A guide to getting the best results from our mineral makeup.

THE TOOLS

You'll need 4 tools for proper application, our Luscious Kabuki or Softer-than-Sable™ Kabuki, a Camouflage Oval, a Blonzer, and an Eyeliner brush. (Note: Our brushes are all cruelty-free.)

The Luscious Kabuki is a HIGH quality, trimmed squirrel tail and goat hair brush. The Softer-than-Sable™ Kabuki is an exceptionally soft, yet firm vegan brush made of taklon fibers (Taklon is a synthetic fiber). This brush delivers a heavier application of minerals so that less layers are needed. These brushes will hold and dispense the mineral foundation and Silks better than most other brushes we've encountered.

(I know you already have a lot of brushes, but I promise that our brushes are worth the investment!) Our kabukis should last a lifetime if gently cared for. I recommend washing it with shampoo and letting dry overnight at least every two weeks.

The Camouflage Oval brush is also vegan and made of taklon. This is the best brush we've encountered for applying the Eye Colours. It is also excellent at applying the concealers and spackling the pores with the Invisi-Pore.

The Blonzer brush is our blush and bronzer brush. It is made of the same high quality bristles as our kabuki.

The Eyeliner brush is also a vegan, synthetic fiber brush and is superb at distributing the Eye Colours as an eye liner.

FOUNDATION APPLICATION (Loose)

To start, you very lightly dip the Kabuki into the minerals, tap off the excess and brush onto the face. There is not a special motion, simply cover your face with the minerals and repeat once or twice until you are happy with the coverage. You can go over any blemishes or ruddiness that is still visible with the Camouflage Oval (or concealer) brush using a slightly heavier application of the foundation. You can also use the Camouflage Oval brush to apply concealer or foundation around your eyes.

Another tip is to mix a tiny bit of Larenim foundation or concealer with a drop of jojoba oil using the Camouflage Oval brush to make a high-coverage concealer to cover up blemishes. Make sure you feather the edges of the applied concealer to create a natural effect. NOTE: All containers come with a clear seal on a sifter lid. The sifter controls the flow to prevent waste. Remove the seal altogether, or poke through some of the holes with a pin.

FOUNDATION APPLICATION (Pressed)

Mineral Airbrush™ Pressed Foundation is applied with the enclosed sponge. Simply wipe the sponge onto the pressed minerals and distribute onto your face. DO NOT WET THE SPONGE FIRST. The sponge can be washed with a cleanser and dried overnight to be kept clean.

Mineral Airbrush™ Pressed Foundation is an adjustable coverage foundation - if you want higher coverage simply sponge on until your face is covered. If you want less coverage, distribute smaller amounts to your face, with the sponge. Pressed minerals can double as a concealer. Use the Camouflage Oval brush to apply a small amount to conceal blemishes or under-eye circles. Use a Kabuki brush if you want a lighter all-over application.

WARNING: The pressed mineral WILL shatter if dropped! We do not use the customary binders that glue other pressed foundations together. Those binders are pore clogging and we AVOID them!

TREATMENT

Dusk 'til Dawn™ is one of the best products ever for those with acne and/or oily skin. It is oil combating and detoxifying. It also helps to minimize the appearance of flushing associated with rosacea. Poison ivy, and post laser sufferers have also reported HIGH satisfaction! Buff onto skin before bed with a Kabuki brush.

MINERAL SILK

To minimize oily shine, apply a layer of Mineral Silk™ over the foundation using the Kabuki. This makes an excellent product for touch-ups throughout the day as it will never appear cakey or dry the skin.

The Mineral Silk™ applied with our Camouflage Oval brush is also perfect as a pore filler or "spackler". This will NOT clog the pores but will make your pores appear much smaller if not altogether undetectable.

CONCEALER

We have different concealers for different purposes.

Hocus Pocus is a green based concealer to minimize red blemishes or general rudiness of the skin. It also soothes and conceals POISON IVY, SHINGLES, and other skin conditions.

Fair Maiden concealers minimize blueish undereye circles, serve as an Eye Colour primer, and brighten the eye area for a youthful effect.

Voodew has a yellow tint which minimizes blue under-circles.

Allure has an apricot tint which minimizes blue to purplish under-eye circles.

Harmony concealers are general, all purpose facial concealers that minimize the appearance of blemishes and hyper-pigmentation.

Invisi-Pore™ is a pore filling and oil absorbing product. It is applied with a Kabuki and can be used under foundation as a primer or applied over foundation as a finishing product. It can also be used as a touch up product during the day. Invisi-Pore™ is best for large pored, normal to oily skin. Invisi-Pore™ will help to create the smooth, matte finish and will help to minimize oily shine which can exaggerate the appearance of large pores.

BLUSH/BRONZER

We recommend applying with our Blonzer brush, which is similar to our high quality Kabuki but better adapted to cheek and contouring needs. Dip the Blonzer brush VERY lightly in the blush or bronzer, tapping off any excess. Apply blush to the cheeks and high points of the face for a healthy, glowing effect. The bronzer may also be applied to the entire face if desired.

EYE COLOUR

FOR BEST RESULTS the Eye Colours are generally applied dry using the Camouflage Oval brush. You can also dip your brush into water first to intensify the color. Use the Larenim Eyeliner brush to apply any deep-hued Eye Colour as an eyeliner. Simply mix a drop or two of water into the minerals and apply. (You can use the jar lid as your mixing container.) It is ABSOLUTELY the most beautiful, gentle and long lasting eye liner you will ever try. Remember that our Eye Colours, like almost every product in the Larenim® line, is designed to be flattering ON ALL AGE GROUPS! Even the more lustrous Eye Colours amaze those with mature eyelids. They appear to make the eyelid look moister and smoother.

FOR DRY OR SUNDAMAGED SKIN

If you want to set make-up immediately, mist with a rosewater glycerin spray. This is not an absolutely essential step (except for very sun damaged skin) as minerals will set on their own in 15-20 minutes and take on a beautiful, translucent glow. If your skin is dry, apply moisturizer first, then wait 8-10 minutes to apply the foundation.

Use a mild facial scub occasionally, to help allow minerals to better cling to the skin and maximize that healthy glow!

BE CREATIVE!

Have fun with the minerals! There are so many possibilities with a little imagination. Mix your favorite color into a clear gloss or nail polish. Mix INCANTATION with ALMOST anything if you want a glamorous effect!

SOME POINTERS FROM OUR FOUNDER, KIRSTEN CORCORAN:

Below is a short list of suggestions from Kirsten as to which foundations to use on various complexions. Remember, these are just starting points so try them and go lighter or darker as necessary.

1C/3C - For very fair, creamy complexions with natural pink undertones.

3C/5C - For most Asian complexions.

3W - For masking rosacea and redness. Provides the most comprehensive coverage of any of our foundations.

4W/8W - For olive-toned complexions.

4W/8W/10W - For Hispanic complexions.

6W - For Indian/Middle Eastern complexions.

8W/10W/12W/12C or 11N - A range of colors that work well on African American complexions. 11N is probably the most versatile.

Harmony (applied as a foundation) - For skin with a lot of brown patches. For fair skin or can be used to "cut" any other foundation shade.

OTHER HINTS:

Ethereal makes a beautiful brow color for blondes.

Ethereal can be mixed with Celestial Fire to create a gorgeous brow color for red heads.

Loco Cocoa can be used as a brow color for brunettes. For lighter brunette shades, try mixing Loco Cocoa with Ethereal.

Midnight Magic for brown/grey brows.

In addition to using Dusk 'til Dawn™ as a night-time skin treatment for oily skin, it can also be used as a foundation base to control oiliness during the day. Invisi-Pore™ or Mineral Silk™ can also be applied throughout the day and before applying foundation to help control oily shine.

Use the Camouflage Oval brush with Invisi-Pore™ or Mineral Silk™ to "spackle" pores for smoother finish.
